Mary Fragapane has a unique vision for public art, viewing her pieces not with the eye of the artist but instead through the eyes of the public for which they are created. It’s this unique perspective that makes her vibrant and whimsical compositions pulse with a creative energy that draws the viewer in.

“The great thing about public art is that people get excited about it; it gives them a sense of pride in their community and touches their lives in a way that a painting that hangs in a gallery can’t. It’s the appreciation of what a great mural or other piece of public art  means to the people’s lives it inhabits that drives me to create this kind of work.”

Mary has created unique pieces for many of the Public Art projects that have taken place in the greater New York area over the years, The American Kennel Clubs “DOGNY” in 2002, Imodium’s “Urban Relief” in 2003, Big Apple Fest in 2004 and NY Cares in 2005. Her mural designs for these projects have been sponsored by Music for Your Life Radio, Pfizer Corp. Mr.  & Mrs. David Frye and RBC Wealth Management.

Over the years, Mary has been commissioned to create large murals for the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, the Cultural Resource Council of Onondaga Co., Epic Records, Woodstock 99, the Northern Onondaga Public Library System, Schuss Ski & Bike, Gansevoort Elementary School, St. Elizabeth Medical Center and the Thirsty Owl Winery.   Her work has been featured by Sotheby’s and written about in, The Washington Post, Star Ledger, Time Out NY, Talent in Motion Magazine, Observer Dispatch, Daily Sentinel, and Women in Motion magazine.
